Basic Calling Order

Posted: 5th September 2011 by Rob in CCIE, Cisco

This is the order in which calls are processed.

Phones/Gateways/etc –> Calling Search Spaces –> Partition –> DN

The most specific patterns are chosen regardless of the order or partitions.
Example:  We have the following two partitions configured with the following two patterns:

Partition 1
5xxxx

Partition 2
50xx

We then dial 5001.  Because Partition 2 has a more specific match it will be used to process the call.

[important]The order of partitions in not important unless there is a tie in the longest match for a DN.  If there is a tie then the first listed partition containing the match wins.[/important]
